I am a social neuroscientist with strong ties to developmental & social psychology. My research focuses on the psychological, behavioural, biological, and brain basis of human social interaction, caregiving, and attachment. My research methods include self-reports and interviews, behavioural observation, as well as functional & structural magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI & sMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) hyperscanning.
With my work, I am advancing a new area of research - the social neuroscience of human attachment (SoNeAt). This includes promoting novel functional neuroanatomical models of both organised (NAMA) and disorganised (NAMDA) attachment.
I am the principal investigator of the Social Neuroscience of Human Attachment (SoNeAt) Lab at the Centre for Brain Science, Department of Psychology, University of Essex (Colchester, UK). I furthermore am the coordinating board president of the Special Interest Research Group on the Social Neuroscience of Human Attachment (SIRG SoNeAt) within the Society for Emotion and Attachment Studies (SEAS). I am also an Associate Trustee of the UK Charity Babygro.
